Pete Seeger and Bill Harley Folk icon Pete Seeger has been an idol of mine since childhood, a man who reinvents himself for generation upon generation. Master Storyteller and singer-songwriter Bill Harley has been a friend and client of mine for many years. Needless to say, Bill is always a blast to shoot and a pleasure to work with. So when Bill's wife, Debbie Block of Round River Productions, phoned me to photograph a Storytelling Magazine cover featuring Bill and Pete, there were basically no questions asked: just where and when. We met at the beautiful Rhode Island farmhouse of one of Pete's kin, and combined Bill and Pete's playing, storytelling, and eating (an ample array of aromatic, fresh- baked goods) with our photo shoot. Pete's dynamic wife Toshi agreed to be my able assistant, with the grace and expertise of a seasoned photographer--which, of course, she turned out to be. With blue skies and balmy weather as a bonus, it proved a magical morning indeed.
